Wish it could have been a better holiday weekend for some of the members. Some of the NorCal brothers got burned pretty bad and Ben Sheppard (International Membership Trustee) had his catch fire with significant damage. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. 6 July 2010 08:51am |

A quick update on our guys. The company was Truck and Engine Six in the Oak Park district of Sacramento City. Called to odor of gas inside a house. Companys on scene found nothing showing with a smell of gas. All members in full ppe with scba on. 200ft 1.75" pulled. Within seconds after forcing entry there was a explosion. Gas and power secured prior to force entry. Sounds like they're looking at possible arson on this one. Two FF's off truck and two FF's off engine were all blown to the ground and one FF thrown out of the house from the force of the expolsion. All four FF's to UCDMC. One FF was released the same day. Three other FF's remain in the hospital. One is in Med-Sug floor and the other two are still in the burn unit. Unknown right now how long they will be there, but it sounds like there all doing well enough to be home later today or the next day or two. I just left the hospital this morning and our brotherhood is in strong force!!! I am very proud to be a Sacramento City Fireman today. As of today all of our guys are home. I visited with one of the brothers today. He's doing well. Four members of the responding crews were Nor-Cal fools members. One is a current Nor-Cal E-Board member. He's to a speedy recovery at home boy's. Welcome home! 12 July 2010 11:20pm |
